Netanyahu Speech Amalek

Netanyahu Uses Amalek Narrative in Speech

PM Says Israel Is Trying to Prevent Harm to Civilians

PMO: Netanyahu's Use of Amalek Narrative Does Not Mean Israel Is Carrying Out Genocide

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has invoked the Amalek narrative in a speech about the country's expanding its ground. Netanyahu's invocation of Amalek is symbolic, drawing parallels between ancient foes and present-day adversaries. The PMO said that when Netanyahu used the biblical quotation "Remember what Amalek did to you," he was not referring to any specific group of people. Netanyahu says that the Israeli military is trying to prevent harm to civilians. Jacobs stressed that Netanyahu saying Amalek does not mean that Israel is carrying out genocide. During one of the first press conferences held after October 7, Netanyahu recited a quote in his speech referring to the Amalekites, an ancient enemy of the Israelites. The latest comments come after Mr. Netanyahu last week invoked an apocalyptic Old Testament prophecy often interpreted as a sign of the end times.
