Sydney Trains and Alstom Sign US$325 Million Contract for New Intercity Fleet

The New Intercity Fleet Will Transform Rail Travel in NSW

Sydney Trains and Alstom have signed a US$325 million contract for the supply of 23 new Intercity trains for the NSW TrainLink network.

The new trains will be built at Alstom's manufacturing facility in Walsh, Colorado, and will be delivered to Sydney by 2024.

The new Intercity trains will be longer, wider, and more comfortable than the current fleet, and will feature a range of improvements, including:

  • More seats
  • Dedicated luggage space
  • Wi-Fi
  • Power points
  • Air-conditioning
  • CCTV

The new trains will also be more environmentally friendly than the current fleet, with a 15% reduction in carbon emissions.

The new Intercity fleet will transform rail travel in NSW, providing passengers with a more comfortable, reliable, and sustainable journey.
